Role play then changed to the hairdressers, always a favourite with the children. They set up a table as a reception area and equipped it with paper, clipboards, telephone and pencils for appointments. They made appointments for staff to visit and showed them pictures to decide which hairstyle they would like. They styled each others hair as well as the dolls.
As most of our time has been spent outside again we made music in our log circle and had picnic style snack time. We practised hopping and jumping and ran some races such as sack and egg and spoon. We also made a volcano and a cave from paper mache and had fun writing and drawing in the shaving foam. A parcel arrived on Wednesday which contained our new tents and tunnel system (purchased with our Sainsburys vouchers).
On Thursday morning we joined up with Highwoods School for some sports activities with many of the children who used to come to Squirrels. It was a lot of fun and lovely weather too.
At the end of the week we released 4 of our 'painted lady' butterflies into the garden. We watched as they flew around and will be looking out to see if they come back to visit us next week.
Have a good weekend and see you next week for more fun and games at Squirrels
