The children have enjoyed discovering the wide variety of paint, brushes, glue and craft materials. We encourage the children to select their own materials and paint to encourage independent practical and thinking skills. Children will begin to be encouraged to mix their own paint as the term progresses. This teaches them the science of changing textures and colours and gives them confidence in their ability to work things out for themselves.
Scissors, pencils and crayons are always on hand to help children to develop hand eye co-ordination and to encourage the correct way to hold these items in preparation for school.
The children have been captivated by the story of Owls we have been focussing on for the past two weeks and we are beginning to create a display in the book corner with a variety of the childrens comments about the story.
We have many new and exciting activities planned for next week.
Words we have learned this week:
· Taking turns
Ideas to continue this weeks fun at home:
· Encourage your child to do some mixing. It doesn't have to be paint. Most children love to stir water, leaves, mud or anything they can get their hands on.
· Go on a walk together to look for signs of autumn such as leaves beginning to turn brown. Bring these items into pre-school so we can begin to create some pictures.
