On Monday we made some bread rolls in a traditional style of bread making and baked them in the oven. To make a comparison we also bought a bread mix and used a bread maker to make a large loaf of wholemeal bread. The idea was to compare the two styles of cooking and find out which we preferred. The results were unanimous. The rolls turned out really well and the children were able to take one one each. The bread maker proved to be a disaster! Probably due to user error (Fiona not having her glasses on). The children felt it resembled a volcano which was very funny, if not the result we had hoped for. We will try this again in the next few weeks.
Dinosaur world has been very popular this week. We have an outdoor and an indoor version and the childrens' imagination has been running wild with lots of imaginative play.
On Tuesday we had our usual fun sports activities with Leo in the main hall. We are beginning to extend many of his ideas into our play during the rest of the week which gives the children who do not attend on Tuesdays the opportunity to experience the fun.
We have been focussing on a few favourite books for the past few weeks and many of the children have been drawing pictures to add to our display to continue with this theme. Please don't forget to have a look at the walls when you collect your children. At the moment we are working on the song/book of Five little speckled frogs.
This week our the new words we learned have been focussed on our bread making project:

Why not try and make some bread or cakes with your child and see which you like best?
Enjoy reading your childs' favourite book together and draw a picture for our display
