We have also enjoyed more baking this week. The children have been busy making Easter nests using breakfast cereal and melted chocolate, and then decorating them with mini eggs or chicks. This offers children an opportunity to weigh out different ingredients and start looking at basic maths as we measure out 1 spoon of this, or 2 spoons of that. They had great fun mixing all the ingredients together and practiced their hand-eye coordination as they tried to spoon the mixture into the cake cases!
Also popular this week has been our stage! A large box donated on Wednesday was turned into a glitzy stage! We added a microphone and arranged chairs for the ‘audience,’ then watched as different children took centre stage. It was interesting to see that some of our more shy children were happy to take the mic and perform in front of peers! We enjoyed an exciting musical show which included songs from Frozen, and Shrek, as well as other well-known songs such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!
The week ended with our Easter Fayre with a range of stalls including our raffle, tombola, and cake stall. The Easter bonnet competition was our busiest yet with so many amazing efforts. We want to offer our sincerest thanks to all parents who helped in any way with the Fayre; those who donated gifts, helped on stalls, baked cakes, and all those who came and took part in it. We raised an impressive £363.64 which will now be put to good use in providing new equipment for Squirrels.
We hope all our families enjoy their Easter holidays.
We return to Squirrels on:
