Cutting has been a popular activity this week. Children have been practicing using scissors; with some simply enjoying making cuts in their paper, and others being more ambitious and folding the paper first to then make a snow-flake effect when it opens up! We will continue to explore this next week to give more children an opportunity to join in and to see how we could further develop this.
We’ve enjoyed embracing technology this week, playing games on our laptop, including ‘making a pizza’ and ‘visiting the doctors’. The children learnt how to use the laptop and were able to make choices by clicking on the mouse – this proved very popular with children eager to take their turn.
It’s been very cold this week, so we’ve been trying to find ways to stay active indoors. Our Jolly Jo sports session had us exploring ways of moving – big steps, small steps, fast and slow steps! We then enjoyed running around the hall to collect various coloured items that had to be matched to the same coloured mat. Next we raced balls along ramps – seeing whether the steepness of the ramp made the balls faster or slower. Finally we enjoyed some very active action songs to help work off the wiggles!
Other popular activities have included the doll’s house, the wooden blocks, dressing up, and reading Christmas themed books. We’ve also enjoyed hammering with our indoor tools!
Ideas to continue this week’s fun at home:
We’ve been busy practicing our Nativity play this week – so keep on practicing those songs at home if you can! We need parents singing too – so make sure to look at the website to help learn those words!
