The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) states that Early Years providers must,
‘Work in partnership with parents to ensure children are ready for school.’
But what does it actually mean to be ‘ready for school?’
The following handout from our school readiness talk will help parents / carers to understand what is meant by the term, 'school readiness' and gives ideas how to support this at home. There is also a poster that helps illustrates key school ready skills.

Whilst many families remain in lockdown due to Covid-19, school visits for those going to primary school are not yet possible. Becoming familiar with your new teacher and new school is an important part of 'school readiness', so we are delighted to share with you a virtual tour from Highwoods primary school. Those going to Highwoods will be able to 'see' their new EYFS teachers, and become familiar with their new classroom. Hopefully we will be able to add other local primary schools soon.
